KP govt announces public holiday on day of Hazrat Umar’s martyrdom

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced to observe a public holiday on Muharram 1st marking the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A).

The announcement about the beginning of the Muharram, first month of Islamic calendar, would be made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Umar (R.A) was one of the most powerful and influential Muslim caliphs in history. He became the second caliph after the death of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (R.A).
